Cassette for timescapes – Emmy Oost (Lecture)
Within ‘Cassette for timescapes’, a film production company, Emmy Oost produces films and cross-media projects that combine innovative vision and social or political engagement. Through their projects they like nothing better than to defy the rules and cross over the existing boundaries between genres. With a main focus on creative documentaries, they also produce fiction films, television series and interactive documentaries.
The Invisible City [Kakuma] (2016, 74’) - Lieven Corthouts
Emmy Oost: ‘The Invisible City [Kakuma]’ combines a feature documentary with 2 digital platforms: a socially innovative web tool that helps refugee teenagers to find their family in the camp and a web documentary that enriches the perspective of Western audiences. The film strives to question the concept of the refugee camp and to draw attention to the large amount of unaccompanied underage refugees. Seen through its warm and human perspective, the film wants to provide an antidote to the growing antagonism inside Europe and our country.
